What do I mean by Empowered by WordPress?

WordPress defines itself as
“a state-of-the-art semantic personal publishing platform with a focus on aesthetics, web standards, and usability. What a mouthful. WordPress is both free and priceless at the same time.”
Yes, a mouthful, but an understated mouthful. WordPress began as a blogging platform, but has evolved into a way for anyone to have an extremely powerful and functional Website in a matter of hours.
A basic WordPress installation will offer you a way to post blog entries, links, and static pages; but with the ability to install plugins, you can build a site that will accommodate galleries, shopping carts, podcasts, RSS feeds, streaming video and audio, and so on. This is made possible by the many people who contribute these plugins to the WordPress project under an open source license - in other words, it is all free. Chances are, if you have a need to add something to a WordPress site, someone has already built a plugin for it, and all you need to do is install it.
Add to this the ability to customize WordPress themes to virtually any look and feel, and one becomes truly empowered.
This kind of empowerment for anyone - not just us geeks - is what inspired me to create this site. I love the idea of empowering people to maintain and enhance their own Websites, and to help them take advantage of the added benefits of blogging directly from those sites.
An empowered site, therefore, is a site that is maintained by an empowered user. It is my intention, through this site, to empower you.
Check out the Empowered Sites on the links to the right to see some good examples of sites I have launched for people. These sites are fully maintained by their empowered users.
I will post regular entries here on how you can set up your own site, enhance it, and maintain it using WordPress and WordPress plugins. I can also set up and customize a site for you for much less than you may think. Go to the empowering services page to learn more.
